What to expect at a Audition workshop?
My understanding and experience of workshop auditions is that the folks organising it want to see most of all is how you work with other people. So there will probably be some simple theatre games. Try not to worry about how well you play the games just play with an open heart and a sense of humour. They are often played in some sort of circle. Then there’s often paired work or a paired game, again it’s about being a good team player. If dance is involved there might be a simple routine to follow or you create your own. Likewise with singing – a simple song sung in a group or individually. In terms of acting they might ask you to create a simple devised or improvised piece with a few other auditionees. If they’ve asked you to prepare pieces – these are usually done at the end, often very informally infront of each other. Think of it a party where you’re playing some really fun games if you’re nervous. The folks casting just want to see your personality and have a sense where you fit in
