What to do with used furniture?

Donate your used furniture to a charitable organization where your furniture will be given to families in need. Try calling either a church of your choice or perhaps Big Brothers and Big Sisters or your local Outreach Organization. Most of these places will pick up your furniture at your convenience for free. Your furniture will surely be used by a family who will cherish and appreciate your donation for many years to come. One man’s silver is another man’s gold.

If you want to make money, sell them locally on craigslist.com If you want to donate them knowing a really needy person who can’t even afford a thrift shop will get them, try a religous facility, they can find a needy house to put them in. Usually they go to senior citizens who barely have $ for food, or victims of a fire/etc.. If you want to give them away to be sold, with no financial benefit to you, post a “free furniture” ad on craigslist (you wont have to transport them) or take them to your local thrift shop/salvation army.

Try freecycle.org It is a great organization arranged locally. You post a message of things you are offering up to the community, and people volunteer to take it. Your used things go to a great home and you can even find things that you want in return (so many people give away books! It’s wonderful!
