What to do when a child wets the bed?

Strip all the bedding and put it in the washer, if you have a waterproof mattress cover then the matress itself shoudl be fine – if not then wash that with a wet cloth or clorox wipe as well. Put on all new bedding, wash the kid in the tub, put dry clothes on them and put them to bed. Don’t make a big deal out of it! If this happens frequently like it often does with toddlers and preschoolers I would suggest using a waterproof mattress cover, then use an extra large waterproof pad (sometimes called crib sized) over that, put on a fitted sheet, then put on a second waterproof pad and a second fitted sheet. If your child wets the bed you just strip the top sheet and pad off and there is all new, dry bedding waiting for them to go back to sleep. Then you can just put the wet stuff aside to take care of in the AM. A lot easier and faster at 3 in the morning!
