What to do about the neighbors barking dogs?
In most places, it isn’t animal control or the police who handle barking dog complaints, and I’m a bit surprised that neither of them told you who does. It’s usually the noise bylaw people. Call your city hall or municipal office and ask for a bylaw officer. You can probably also go your local government’s website and check exactly what’s written in the noise bylaw, to be sure the barking is an infraction. Before you call, it helps a lot to speed things up if you have the address where the barking happens, and keep a diary of when and how long these dogs bark, even for just one day. It’s a damn nuisance to do but makes your complaint much harder to ignore if you have exact information. “They bark all the time” is not usually taken seriously since so many people exaggerate this stuff.
