What to add to buntons summer ale brewing kit?
Summer ales are meant to be light tasting beers. Don’t add anything to it. Get familiar with the brewing process before you start changing the recipes around. Malt extract is the base fermentable. It provides the yeast with the sugar and nutrients it needs to ferment into alcohol. Malt (the actual grains) give the beers their distinct flavor. It’s what separates stouts from porters and stuff like that. Don’t add malt to the fermenter. You’ll ruin the batch. Steep the grain in 150 degree water; you’re making a tea out of it. Separate the tea from the grain and add it to the boil.
