A. HIPAA requires the employer and carrier to issue certificates of Creditable Coverage within a reasonable timeframe. Generally, this is considered to be within (a) 14 days of termination, if COBRA is available; (b) the timeframe specified in your state continuation provision; or (c) a reasonable amount of time if neither COBRA nor state continuation applies.
