All time begins at Greenwich, near London. All time east of London is added. For example, Poland is 1 hour ahead of London so if it is midnight in Greenwich it is 1am in Poland. For places west of London, the time reduces. So, if you lived in New York, it is 5 hours behind London, so it would be 5pm.
