What things were easier during the roaring twenties, and what things were harder?
The 1920’s, being between the two world wars, and before the depression, was a pretty good time in US history. It was considered a decade of growth and energy. People had money, and were starting to have available transportation (cars) and so could travel and spend some of that money. One thing that’s always impressed me with the era is the emergence of women in various ways–they fought for and got the right to vote, and I think that empowered them to go after other issues. The most well known issue, of course, being temperance. They wanted to ban the manufacture, the transportation and the sale of alcohol, and were successful at their attempts. That’s an amazing accomplishment! Depending on how you look at it, one thing that was harder was drinking alcohol; you still could, but had to be a bit sneaky about it due to Prohibition. New clothing styles for women made them more comfortable and consequently their life a bit easier. No longer did most wear the tightly corseted underclothes,
