Verbose is an option (although it’s very old) for DOS/UNIX style programs where the program displays information on what it is doing all the time. For example, when copying files in UNIX with verbose activated, the user (that’s you) will see what the file that is currently being copied is called, where it is being copied, etc. Without verbose activated the user won’t see anything.
