What the heck is tourmaline?
Tourmaline is a precious stone and also one of the birthstones of October (I think the opal is the other.). Tourmalines are available in a rainbow of colors and no two are alike. Tourmalines emit high amounts of negative ions and infrared when heated making them ideal for this type of application. I have seen other hair styling products on the market that claim the use of tourmaline, but they seem to be only coated with it when you read the fine print. Tourmaline dust is not coated on this iron, but rather mixed into the actual parts of it! Pretty high tech if you ask me, but all I care about is whether or not it works and this one does!
