What the Green Building Standards at Freshwater?

There are really two parts to this answer. The first part concerns the overall “sustainability” of the homes and buildings. To ensure that all the homes will meet a baseline of sustainability, we are going to mandate that the homes meet the National Association of Home Builder (NAHB)’s new National Green Building Standard. Meeting the National Green Building Standard will ensure that each home is well planned with regard to its: lot design; resource efficiency; energy efficiency; water efficiency; indoor environmental quality; and operations and maintenance. The second part concerns the energy consumption of the home. Although energy efficiency is a part of the NAHB National Green Building Standard, we are emphasizing it even further by requiring that each home be planned for net-zero energy consumption.
