What the difference between Cubic Zirconia and Diamonds?
Diamonds are formed from carbon over millions of years, and synthetic cubic zirconia is made from the chemical compound zirconium oxide. Cubic zirconia is described essentially as a “form of glass created artificially,” in contrast to diamonds which are made in nature. http://thediamondsareforever.blogspot.com/2009/05/differences-between-diamonds-and-cubic.html Cubic zirconia is generally sparklier, heavier, and a little bit “softer” than diamond. Whereas very few diamonds are flawless and completely colorless, these traits are easily produced in cubic zirconia. To the untrained eye, the two material are virtually indistinguishable. However, they can easily be distinguished by their heat conductivity since cubic zirconia is a thermal insulator and diamond is a very effective thermal conductor.
