What temperatures can silicones withstand?
The normal minimum and maximum operating temperatures for RTV silicones is in the range –50 to 250degC. The temperature resistance however depends upon the type of application i.e. what type of fluid or gas the sealant is sealing against and exposed to, the pressures it must withstand, and the flange design. The high temperature additives and sealant composition will determine the optimum temperature characteristics. Hylomar 310, our high temp Red silicone, can withstand 350C for intermittent periods while maintaining elasticity and adhesion.
