What technologies are currently considered to be part of the IMT-2000 family and if changes are made within the ITU will this be reflected in the 3G licence?
The IMT-2000 radio interface standards are listed in Appendix 4 part 2 of the Notice. These are taken from the ITU-R Recommendation (IMT-RSPC) on the detailed radio interfaces for IMT-2000, which was agreed at Study Group level within ITU-R in November 1999 for adoption by correspondence. The radio interfaces within the ITU-R Recommendation, as listed in the Notice, are as follows: • IMT-2000 CDMA Direct Spread • IMT-2000 CDMA Multi Carrier • IMT-2000 CDMA TDD • IMT-2000 TDMA Single Carrier • IMT-2000 FDMA/TDMA The final list of radio interfaces differs slightly from earlier versions of the interface list, because the interfaces have been grouped in a slightly different way in the final version of the ITU-R Recommendation, principally to distinguish between those based on CDMA technology and those based on TDMA. The commonly used technology names, e.g. UMTS, CDMA2000 etc, still appear within the text of the ITU-R Recommendation but the section headings for each interface in the Recomme
