If an individual or organization is providing self-study material or conducting classroom training the individual or organization should have both a technical (content knowledge) and an educational (pedagogical and andragogical knowledge) background. Look for professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, CLU, ChFC, CFP, CEBS, LUTCF) for content knowledge and formal academic degrees (M.Ed., D.Ed. or Ph.D.) for educational knowledge. Expert training organizations utilize individuals who possess advanced expertise in both content and educational domains. Finally, ask the trainer or provider if they have been published or have authored any authoritative works.
