What teaching methodologies are best suited for managing student behavior, i.e., how do I get the students to do what I want?
When I asked the above teachers this same question, they both included in their reply “be consistent” with regards to discipline. They both agreed that discipline, fairness and consistency were the backbone of a successful classroom. Our text says that effective science teaching incorporates a variety of instructional activities that use the students prior knowledge and construct knowledge from sensory experience (pg. 288) In other words, kids learn best from their own first hand experiences and discoveries. It goes on to say that activities should be varied and all students should be encouraged and involved.
