What tank can be named the best tank of the WW2?
The PzKw V “Panther” was the distillation of all the lessons learned by the Germans on the Eastern Front, and was arguably the best tank produced in WWII. It was fast, had wide tracks for better weight distribution, and an excellent 70 caliber long 75mm high velocity gun that could destroy any Allied tank at considerable range. It was a much more balanced package than the lumbering Tigers in every repsect. The Tiger II’s were hopelessly underpowered for their weight, having the exact same 700 hp engine as the Panther, but in a chassis weighing 20 tons more, so mobility was always an issue(as well as transmission repair!). The Tiger I was hampered by its non-sloped armor, but it was a good, reliable(for a Tiger) vehicle that its crews were devoted to.
