What takes place during the initial evaluation with the physical therapist?
The initial evaluation involves the therapist examining the problem area and diagnosis. The therapist will perform tests and measures related to the diagnosis or problem. During the evaluation the therapist will ask various questions regarding the diagnosis, symptoms, and injury. The therapist will utilize all of the information gathered from this examination to develop an effective treatment plan. The initial evaluation will usually last 30 – 45 minutes. Treatment will be started if time permits.
