What symptoms are found in someone incubating SARS?
Almost all patients have a fever and many have associated symptoms like headache, chills, muscle aches and general malaise. Although SARS is universally thought of as a respiratory condition this is not strictly true. In a study of over 1600 cases in Hong Kong it was found that only 61% showed respiratory symptoms. Most of the others (32%) had vomiting and diarrhoea. It is well known that animal corona viruses commonly affect the GI tract or the respiratory system. It is not clear why the course of the disease varies in different people. Could someone get SARS from a blood transfusion? Authorities are not completely sure.
