What Style of Debate is Available at Southeast Missouri State University?
Southeast Missouri State University participates in the National Educational Debate Association (NEDA) which is a national organization of colleges and universities who practice “audience-centered” debate. Audience-centered debate attempts to provide students with the type of advocacy skills that would prevail in the variety of public forums our graduates are likely to encounter (i.e. law, politics, civic affairs, academics, etc.). Tournament events in NEDA feature team or “Lincoln-Douglas” (one-on-one) debate with a variety of divisions to accommodate students of varying levels of experience.
