DOE is preparing a site characterization report and an Environmental Impact Statement, as required by the Nuclear Waste Policy Act. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement was released for public comment on August 6, 1999. The Final Environmental Impact Statement is scheduled to be completed in 2000 and the site characterization report is to be completed in 2001.
