What strategies are being used to try to get rid of the resistant parasites?
programmes designed for the particular circumstances on the border. For example, fake drugs have been a huge problem in the area and so many activities have been introduced to combat that problem. Some of the key interventions are mass distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets, intensive education and free reliable diagnosis and treatment available at the village level. More than half a million mosquito nets have been distributed and more than 3 000 village malaria workers have been trained to diagnose and treat malaria in the village. Special strategies have also been introduced to combat fake drugs and reach the many transient workers in the area, including those crossing the border.
