What stimulates pepsinogen secretion from the chief cells?
There are a variety of factors that stimulates pepsinogen secretion. The first 2 listed are most important: • 1. Vagal activation: during cephalic phase, same mechanisms as for acid secretion, via acetylcholine and during the gastric phase, via distention and vago-vagal reflexes. • 2. Acid secretion will stimulate pepsinogen secretion, perhaps via local nerve plexus innervation and acetylcholine release • 3.
