What statistics would support such standards and regulations?
The equipment standards contained in the proposed policy are based on best practices and research efforts of regulators and organizations from jurisdictions in both the United States and Canada. Like most jurisdictions, Saskatchewan does not specifically track raised vehicles in our published Traffic Accident Information System statistics; however it is not uncommon for a regulator to take advantage of research and the experiences of other jurisdictions when developing policy and regulations. This can expedite the development process by making it more efficient and it also allows us to capitalize on the similarities of fleet make-up and operating conditions that exist in North America.
