What station airs the show, “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives”?”
Guy Fieri has the bleached blond spikes and questionable facial hair of a surly garage band kid, but as the host of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” he also has the kind of joyful energy of someone doing something he really loves. It’s a great gig – Guy eats his way around the country, one hole-in-the-wall joint at a time. Watching him literally dive, face-first, into overflowing plates of diner grub is simultaneously disgusting and fascinating. This is not a show that’s really meant for me and my vegetarian compatriots, but it’s probably just as well – watching it made me hungry despite the fact that I wouldn’t eat 90% of the food featured, so I imagine it might be quite painful to watch if you’re a real meat aficionado. “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” can be seen as either an entertaining look at the really delicious food to be found in unique restaurants all around the country – or as a front-seat look at America’s obesity problem.
