What states regulate Oriental Medicine and/or Acupuncture?
The following States have Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine statutes or have introduced legislation and are nearing regulation. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California* (uses it’s own State exam), Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana Iowa, Louisiana* (has no exam), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada* (uses its own State exam), New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin *Do not use NCCAOM The following States allow practice through a ruling by the Board of Medical Examiners: Kansas and Michigan Legislation has been introduced in the follow states: Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma, Wyoming Click on the following American Association of Oriental Medicine website link to view each state regulatory agency link http://aaom.org/450
