What started the “Hippie” movement?

0

The counterculture movement of the 60’s started in San Francisco in the Haight Ashbury district. The beatniks (the counterculture of the 50’s) really started the whole “hippie” movement. The music and drugs (LSD and weed especially) all had a part in the beginning of the movement. The war in Vietnam also played a part in it. I started to fade because each decade something leaves and comes. That’s life, things change. Though I am sure the end to the Vietnam War and the end of Nixon in office helped with hippies “fading.” Though there are still many around who live their lives like hippies whether they consider it like that or not. I however disagree with you. I am sad that the movement faded….of course the drugs and free sex doesn’t matter to me. I look at it deeper than that…. And I find the music of the 60’s and 70’s better and have more depth than current music.
