What started Kellers legal trouble?
On Sept. 25, 2007 — the night Richard was to be executed for rape and murder — his lawyers called the Court of Criminal Appeals at about 4:40 p.m. to ask the court to remain open for a short time past 5 p.m. Richard’s lawyers say they blamed the delay on computer problems, but the court’s deputy clerk has testified that computer trouble was not mentioned during the phone call.
