The international standard IEC 61496-1/-2 (prEN 50100-1/-2) specifies design, construction and testing requirements for two levels or “types” of light screens. There are also several machine specific standards, such as EN 415-4 Safety of Packaging Machines: Palletizers and Depalletizers, that will reference or specify the “type” of light screen that can be used.
