What speed is the network connection?
In most cases student rooms have a 100Mbps network connection to their local switch. There are some areas of campus where a 100Mbps connection to the end-user is not possible due to the age of the data cabling. These areas have a 10Mbps connection, and are gradually being upgraded as the cabling is replaced. This connection is still significantly faster than most home broadband connections, and users will not notice the difference unless they are performing large file transfers or similar.
