What specific things (programs, skills) will the students be learning in the Sheridan classes?
At Sheridan, students learn concepts and ideas, and practice hands-on problem-solving with technology as a means to an end. The technology component of the Sheridan courses will vary from course to course and from year to year. As in the UTM courses, however, there is a goal of having 30 percent of the mark stem from hands-on work with technology. CCIT students in Sheridan classes will work on the Apple platform, primarily using the Adobe suite of applications, including GoLive for web design, and Adobe Acrobat for the preparation of electronic documents. Other technology elements include the use of an electronic spreadsheet in Intercultural Communication (for use in social science methodologies); designing web-pages using Adobe GoLive in CCT 260H (Web Culture and Design); using digital cameras and Photoshop Elements in CCT 357H (Digital Media: The Still Image); using digital video cameras and I-movie in CCT 300H (Critical Analysis of Media).
