What species of birds will nest in birdhouses?

0

In general, the only birds that will occupy birdhouses are species that normally chisel nesting holes or use ready-made cavities such as hollow trunks or holes already dug out by other species. Some birds that will nest in birdhouses are: bluebirds, chickadees, finches, flycatchers, purple martins, nuthatches, sparrows, starlings, titmice, woodpeckers, and wrens. Some species of larger birds, such ducks and owls, will sometimes use birdhouses. Different species of birds require birdhouses and entrance holes of different sizes.
