What specialty assignments does the Cypress Police Department have?
After probation, you are eligible to test for a special assignment. The term for a special assignment will generally be for three (3) years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The Chief of Police determines the selection process for special assignments and the list of candidates expires once the selection is made. The special assignments are as follows: Special Enforcement Unit (gangs, vice and intelligence, narcotics), Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Crises Negotiations Team, School Resource Officer, DARE Officer, K-9, Field Training Officer, Investigations, and Motor Officer. Non-sworn positions include DARE instructor, jailer, court liaison, community services, emergency services and personnel and training, records clerk, police aides, office specialist and office assistant.
