What Special Services and Activities are Available to College Now Students?
The Myself Third Scholarship, made possible by CUNY graduate Robert Friedman, grants $2000 to each selected student. To be eligible for consideration, each student must submit a high school transcript, a letter of recommendation, a list of extracurricular activities and an essay discussing the nature of civic responsibility. The Model New York City Council Project affords qualified students the opportunity to study, debate and vote on a legislative issue affecting New York City residents. Prior to the meeting, the students learn about the functions and processes of legislatures in a democracy and the realities associated with policy-making and representation in a city as diverse as New York as well as how to hone communication skills, such as public speaking and argumentation.
