What special features are included?
A number of special features have been incorporated under the Plan to help meet your needs, such as a “your occupation” definition of disability for the entire benefit period; the availability of a wide range of monthly benefits; waiting period of either 13 or 26 weeks, whichever you elect; lifetime benefits for disabilities caused by either sickness (mental and nervous conditions limited to a 5-year benefit) or accident and incurred before age 50; worldwide 24-hour coverage; and a voluntary Rehabilitation Program. Beginning with disabilities that are incurred in 2008 or later, a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) may be paid to those AICPA members receiving a monthly benefit. For those disabled in 2008, the member must have been receiving a monthly benefit of at least $3,500 for a minimum of 12 months to qualify for the adjustment in benefit that occurs each July 1.
