What sorts of writing activities are used in writing enhanced courses?
In an effort to use writing as a tool for learning (writing to learn), General Education courses incorporate low-stakes and middle-stakes assignments into the curriculum. Most writing in General Education courses will take the form of “writing to learn” assignments. In some General Education courses, it may also be productive to assign a shorter (3-4 page) formal high-stakes paper (or papers). But the WAC emphasis in General Education courses is on engaging students in writing to learn.
