What sorts of material does the Museum acquire?

A. We are governed by our collecting policy (ie Acquisition & Disposal Policy) which is approved by the Council. Factors that will affect what we can accept include: size & condition of objects; if we already hold similar items; exhibition potential; significance to West Berkshire. We usually suggest that archive material is offered to Berkshire Record Office unless it is closely associated with objects we are acquiring or already hold. What we collect and why was considered in one of the feasibility studies commissioned by the Council.
