What sort of terrain will the Mongol Derby cover?
The Mongol Derby course changes every year. To date we have based the course on steppe grassland, with forest, flood plain and even desert sections. For 2011 we will be reconnoitring a new route and we will release details of this to selected riders in the run-up to the event. Have a look at the photos and blogs to get a feel for the magnificent Mongolian wilderness. We try to strike a balance between a course which is fun to ride and varied, accessible for horses and also back-up crews, and jaw-dropping to look at. Luckily, we are spoilt for choice.
