What sort of subsidies does the Malaysian government make available to people living with AIDS?
Well, right now in the government hospitals you can get one drug free which is the very first drug – AZT. However now this mono-therapy is not the optimum therapy you could give to someone. So usually you need a combinations with two or three other drugs. And those drugs are not free. So that is a problem for a lot of people in this country to afford it all. Right now I think very small number of people living with HIV in Malaysia is actually on the combination therapies, those small numbers who can afford it. We at the foundation, we have a scheme where we’re supporting 50 people to get the combination therapies. But 50 is nothing when we have 33,000 over. So it is still a problem.
