What sort of stove, furnace, boiler or heat pump should I choose?
To compare heating systems not just in terms of price, look at the energy efficiency rating listed on the identification plate located at the rear of the unit and in the manufacturer’s technical data sheets. Compare the efficiency obtained by independent organizations such as the CSA (Canadian Standards Association) or EPA, CGA, IAS and SEER. The energy consumption of each device depends on its energy efficiency, known as the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency rating or AFUE.
