What sort of qualifications do you need to ba an airline pilot?
About 25% of airline pilots graduated from my college, so I think I can answer this one. Firstly, you need certain flight ratings. You don’t need to be an instructor (it helps, though, as most airline pilots hold those certificates), but you do need your private license, instrument and multi-engine ratings, and your commercial license. After that, you need X-amount of flight hours. Each airline is different. Delta won’t even consider hiring someone unless they have at least 2000 hours, and THEN they have to train you on their aircraft. Once you have all of those things, you’ll fly right-hand seat (i.e. copilot) for a while before you make captain.
