What sort of mechanism of distribution would be required by a High Energy Society?
In examining the operational requirements of a high energy society in question 5.1.3, we find money to be entirely inadequate for the distribution of an abundance. Taking this one step further, if this was actually tried, one could easily see the chaos that would result. Since abundance would mean an oversupply of goods and services, then prices would drop to near zero. This would mean profits would become insufficient to allow companies to continue to operate, even though from a strictly physical viewpoint, there is nothing to stop them. The entire social mechanism would break down, and no one would get anything, even though it was all actually available. What is needed then, is an entirely new system of distribution. This mechanism would need to be in accordance with the physical requirements dictated by today’s large technological apparatus.
