What sort of library facilities does Nottingham have in the field of Slavonic Studies?
The Russian and Slavonic collection at Nottingham was one of the first collections to be formed outside Oxford, Cambridge and London. It has been growing steadily since the early 1960s and now constitutes one of the largest collections in a provincial university. The Library currently subscribes to over 100 journals in the Slavonic field and has total Slavonic and East European book holdings of 45,000 volumes which are increasing year by year. Material on Russian and East European law, science and music is available in the appropriate subject libraries on the campus. Certain fields in which research is encouraged are particularly strong and the Manuscripts Department contains some valuable Slavonic materials. Some modules include training in the use of the library, which is given by the Humanities Librarians.
