What sort of financial challenges do local authorities face in terms of school food transformation?

0

• Financial information from many local authorities is available from the School Food Trust financial survey which will be published on the School Food Trust website shortly. • A range of financial challenges experienced by some local authorities and measures taken to address them are detailed in a report on The School Food Trust Financial Challenges conference held on 30 January 2007. Over 80 local authorities attended the event which focused on sharing good practice in managing the finances of school food transformation. The report is available here and presentations given at the event can be found here. • We know that some authorities are currently facing difficulties in implementing the new standards and ensuring the school food service viable. Some of these authorities are subsidising their school meals service in the short-term. Some impact on take up was anticipated but in many schools where the changes are well established take-up has recovered.
