What sort of effect did the great depression have on Russia?
Only Soviet Russia, which had almost isolated itself from the rest of the world, escaped the effects of the Depression. But the Russian people, especially in the Ukraine, suffered severely for several years after 1929 from other causes. The forcible attempt to establish collective farms brought misery and death to millions of Russian farmers.
