What Song Always Brings Back Memories?
This one probably means something to more and more people nowadays, especially as the newer generations get older, but the one song that tends to bring back memories for me is “Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin. I remember a time, maybe when I was around five, when I was sitting out on the swingset behind my house. I had -just- learned how to swing and I saw my Dad come out the side door. I had shouted excitedly for him to watch me swing. The only reaction I got wasn’t really much of a reaction at all. He said something like “not now” and didn’t even bother to turn his head when he answered before he hopped into the car and drove away. As I grew, my father spent less and less time with his family and more and more time involved with promoting himself in his job and putting himself out of reproach of others.
