What solution does WWF propose to combat the menace of air pollution?
Answer… According to sources, CO2 emissions worldwide are now around 12 times higher than they were in 1900 as the world burns increasing quantities of coal, oil and gas for energy. Levels of global warming gases in the atmosphere are higher now than at any time in the past 420,000 years, according to samples extracted from deep in the Antarctic ice. The global temperature build-up is seriously disrupting the natural balance of the world’s climate. WWF is trying to persuade decision-makers in business and politics that there’s more they can do, more quickly to reduce CO2 emissions. Our solutions range from pushing industrialized countries to reduce their current levels of CO2 emissions by ten per cent below 1990 levels by 2010, to seeking solutions in developing countries to significantly reduce their greenhouse gases while pursuing local development goals like providing clean energy to those without any energy services.
