What social problems are unique to the United States?
Similar to Canada, the American welfare system is in need of reform but there are other problems unique to the U.S. These range from a pension system in crisis, high crime rates in inner cities, lack of health care to runaway deficit spending. Most Americans are unaware that their poorest and most uneducated populations are growing at a frightening rate: by 2020 the white population is expected to increase by 1 percent compared to 26 percent for Native Americans, 32 percent for African Americans, and 77 percent for Hispanics!
