What social class did the middle class grow from?
In European medieval history there were peasants noblemen and the ones in-between were classed as middle class because they had more money than the peasant. These days the term middle class tends to be used by white collar workers who seem to self upgrade themselves in society just because they earn more money than the working man or woman. This however is a misconception because many people who use their hands to make a living earn more per year than a white collard worker, and they do not upgrade themselves because they consider it snobbery. There are people in society who were born into money, and others who have worked hard to start their own businesses and have become wealthy, and rightly so.
