Standard SNMP traps, for example, the link up/link down trap from the RFC 1213 MIB-II, are supported by the slic driver. SNMP must be installed and configured in network properties. When you configure SNMP, you can specify the IP address of a server to receive traps. Using the snmputil program from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit allows you to view traps (“snmputil trap”). If you want to receive link up/down traps, make sure you specify a trap destination on a different subnet than the one you are unplugging, or you will not get the traps.
